With two decades of industry experience, I’ve advised clients across Southern and East Africa, including South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, and Malawi. By focusing on the fundamentals of sound marketing, I’ve been able to help companies across a wide range of industries, such as engineering, technology, pharmaceuticals, professional services and consumer goods.

What exactly do we do?
We help privately owned companies in Africa do more effective marketing. We do this by working with you as outsourced marketing managers, marketing strategists, growth consultants and your fractional (part-time) chief marketing officer.

Because we prefer to work with highly entrepreneurial businesses driven by results rather than fancy footwork. Our clients are hands-on, no-nonsense types—entrepreneurs, owners, and founders who are driven to scale their businesses.
Are we an agency?
No, we’re a consultancy. We work with you and your team to take your marketing to the next level. Where needed, we can introduce you to our network of creative freelancers and agencies to help with execution, or we will work with your existing suppliers.

Probably, since we’ve worked across many industries, but here’s the thing: it doesn’t really matter. We combine our knowledge of the principles of effective marketing with your knowledge of your business to jointly develop relevant strategies and plans, no matter the industry.

How do we charge?
Our approach is a bit different. We bill in advance, with payment required upfront, as this supports our collaborative way of working and ensures you can easily budget for the period. We consider this a subscription to our services rather than a retainer, as we actively drive progress forward, whereas retainers are more reactive. Additionally, our fee is not based on the number of hours worked because it shifts the focus of the engagement away from outputs and results to inputs and time. Instead, we are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure a successful outcome, regardless of how little or how long it takes.
What does it cost?
If you click on the individual packages we offer, you will see indicative costs. We offer a solution that is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive. The most affordable solution is to figure out your marketing challenge yourself or collaborate with a local agency. As marketing consultants, we fall in between these two options, which means there is an added cost for our services. However, we’re much cheaper than hiring a large consulting firm or employing extra full-time, senior marketers to your team.
How long does it take?
Our involvement can be as short as a single consultation or workshop or as long as several months. The important thing is that you can stop the engagement at any time without penalty.
Should you use Firejuice instead of an agency?
No, if anything, you should use us in conjunction with an agency or freelancer—either the ones you already use or that we can help you find. The advantage of collaborating with us is that we provide objective advice, free from bias toward specific creative tools. We are not trying to persuade you to build your website with us or manage your social media; our sole interest is in helping you make the right decisions, regardless of the tools or suppliers you choose.
Will we work with your existing internal marketer?
Yes, we do it all the time, either to add capacity, provide strategic guidance or transfer our skills to help your internal marketing function raise its game.
