Ener-G-Africa: A case study in brand building and market expansion for renewable energy in Africa

Ener-G-Africa is a startup company manufacturing and distributing renewable and clean energy products in Sub-Saharan Africa. We partnered with Ener-G-Africa in 2020 to launch its presence in Southern Africa and walked a journey with it until 2024 as its outsourced marketing department.

Our key activities included:

Brand Development & Launch: Defining Ener-G-Africa’s brand identity and launching their corporate website (2020).

Product Launch Support: Supporting the launch of their clean cooking stove range in Malawi, including the flagship EcoPot brand.

Retail Concept Development: Collaborating with design and retail partners to conceive and brand Ener-G-Africa’s chain of energy shops in Malawi.

Expansion Support: Assisting with their expansion into South Africa and the relocation of the head office to Cape Town.

Solar Factory Launch: Orchestrating the launch of their state-of-the-art solar panel assembly plant in Cape Town to key industry players and government officials.

Internal Marketing Enablement: Facilitating onboarding an internal marketing manager and developing a digital marketing campaign for their e-commerce platform to drive direct-to-consumer sales.

This project demonstrates our ability to provide strategic marketing direction and execution for well-funded and rapidly scaling startups. We are proud to have played a key role in Ener-G-Africa’s growth and success.

“Firejuice were instrumental in the implementation of the marketing strategy when EGA opened their offices in Cape Town in 2020 and continued to be an integral part of the company’s marketing function until we formed our in-house Business Development Department in 2024.”

We were directly involved in helping Ener-G-Africa establish its brand internationally and building an in-house marketing function with a focus on product marketing and e-commerce, and a network of physical shops in Malawi.
